BIOGRAFIA OF FABRO TRANCHIDA







Fabro Tranchida (1987, Buenos Aires), recent winner of the Guggenheim Museum New York Award and the Port Tonic Art Center Award/Residency (in Saint-Tropez, France), is a visual artist, art history teacher, Master in Contemporary Technological and Performative Art (University of the Basque Country, Spain) and a Bachelor in Art and Culture Management from the National University of Tres de Febrero - UNTREF (Buenos Aires).

Since 2009, Tranchida has regularly exhibited his work through the languages of painting, photography, performance, skating and installation. He has developed various visual investigations around the representations of peripheral youth, skaters and queer people, with a narrative inspired —in most cases— by the poetic, political and social work of Pier Paolo Pasolini.Since 2009, Tranchida has regularly exhibited his work through the languages of painting, photography, performance, skating and installation. His latest exhibitions have been “L ́Écho des Nouveaux Mondes” (Port Tonic Art Center, Golfe de St Tropez, France, 2024), the performance “Tango, madness and love” with Topacio Fresh at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (Bilbao), “Hotsa: neighborhood hagiographies” (Wunsch Gallery, Buenos Aires, 2024), the performance “Narciso de Mataderos” (curated by La Juan Gallery at Teatros del Canal, Madrid, 2023), “Sustained will: a look at the new drawing in Spain (Galería Fernández Braso, Madrid, 2024), “Stigmata” (Swinton gallery, Madrid, 2024) and "Broken knuckles" (Museo Patio Herreriano, Valladolid, Spain, 2022), with his artistic duo Los Picoletos and in collaboration with El Niño de Elche and Pedro G. Romero; Renowned artist and curator who has developed his work in institutions such as MACBA and Museo Reina Sofía, among others.

In 2015, Dante Litvak and Fabro Tranchida created the duo Los Picoletos; with which they have developed an extensive artistic discourse linked to dissident youth identities linked to the world of skateboarding and queer-punk rebellion; Presenting various solo shows and seminars in institutions such as the Patio Herreriano Museum (Valladolid), the BilbaoArte Foundation (Bilbao), the San Martín Cultural Center (Buenos Aires), La Juan Gallery (Madrid), Aldama Fabre Gallery (Bilbao), NN Gallery (city of La Plata, Buenos Aires, among others.

As a curator, Fabro Tranchida has also developed various exhibitions: “Passages/landscapes between Bilbao and Buenos Aires” (Wunsch Gallery, Buenos Aires, 2024), “Monster Mother, Monster Mass” (Vitriol Gallery, Buenos Aires, 2024), “Tender Weapons” (Wunsch gallery, Buenos Aires, 2018), “Ars erotica” (Recoleta Cultural Center, 2018) and “A sacred place” (Quimera gallery, Buenos Aires, 2016), among others.

As a researcher in art history, he has given various seminars with an LGBT perspective and He has held professorships at institutions such as: the BilbaoArte Foundation (Bilbao), the Blackkamera School of Photography (Bilbao), the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), the UNTREF (Buenos Aires), the University School of Film (Buenos Aires), UCES, as head of the contemporary art department (Buenos Aires), the Casa del Bicentenario (Buenos Aires), the National Museum of Fine Arts (Buenos Aires) and the Emilio Caraffa Museum (Córdoba), among other institution.
He lives and works between Bilbao and Buenos Aires.
